Tides Foundation - San Francisco, CA
Through a grant to the Tides Foundation, Kalliopeia provided project support for production of the film Aluna, a film made by and with the Kogi, an indigenous community in Colombia whose culture is based on preserving the natural functioning of the Earth, and who have deliberately minimized contact with modern society. In 1990 Kogi Mamos (seers) issued a dire warning about the spiritual and ecological consequences of the trajectory of industrial civilization in the BBC film From the Heart of the World – The Elder Brothers' Warning, before withdrawing again from all foreign contact. Seeing that the modern world's fundamental misperception of the earth as an exploitable resource has not changed, the Kogi Mamos are coming forward with a new film to give a final warning and explain the subtle spiritual dynamics that keep the Earth in balance, and how the 'Younger Brothers' (i.e. the modern world) must change their worldview.
